Vera Wang has entered the cosmetics world with her Simply Vera Wang Cosmetics for Kohl’s. Intrigued by what the line might offer, I went to check it out in person at my local Kohl’s store, and I must say I was impressed. From the quality packaging to the quality product, it’s a well thought out and refined line. Here are some of my favorites from the line:
The Tinted Moisturizer had a nice coverage, didn’t feel oily and although it says “skin illuminating”, it wasn’t so shiny that it left the skin oily looking – it had a very subtle illumination – really, a quite perfect amount of illumination, and the shade selection was good as well. There is also an Illuminating Concealer in a pen form – this has four nice shades to it, I liked the coverage and this is more illuminating than the Tinted Moisturizer, which I really liked.
“Beauty should be effortless, fresh and modern just the way I’ve designed my new cosmetics collection” – Vera Wang
All the eye shadows are in duo form and there are 14 duos to choose from. The color combinations are nice and they have a mixture of matte/shimmer and shimmer/shimmer. I didn’t find the shimmer to be too much on most of the colors choices.
The lips – the lipsticks offer a small but nicely edited range of nudes, mid and only a couple darker shade choices. I can’t say how well they last as I did not purchase any of the lipsticks, but testing on the back of my hand, they seemed to have a nice slip to them and a more solid than sheer coverage. The lip glosses have a six color range with only one being a darker shade (shown above #807) and the remainder of them are quite nude or neutral. All of them have a slight shimmer and nice coverage.
The Illuminating Pressed Powder is very nice as well. There are only 3 shades to choose from and the middle shade is the one I chose. The fairest one was too fair and silvery undertones for my light and warm skin tone. The darker one could actually be used as a bronzer for my skin tone. I wouldn’t consider this a shimmery powder, but one that has a very slight illumination. Each compact has a quad of coordinating shades; two are matte, one is very slight shimmer and the darkest shade has the most shimmer – which isn’t much shimmer at all.
Since I dropped my favorite shimmer powder last week and it crushed to a million pieces, I bought this in hopes of replacing it and I do like it a lot! Ladies, too much shimmer on the face is well, too much. Vera really did this one correctly. There are more makeup pieces to the line which can be found at Kohl’s and Kohls.com. And there are a few body care pieces that I will share with you at a later date.
Overall I was very impressed with the Simply Vera Wang line.

Thanks for a great review,Kari.I must check it out!!
